Le Vu Lan (Ullambana) / Parent’s Day

Ceremony

You are cordially invited to Buu Mon Buddhist Temple’s 2009 celebration of Le Vu Lan, also known as Parent’s Day or Ullambana.  Our Temple’s celebration will be held on Sunday, September 6th, 2009 at 9:30 am till 2:00 pm at 2701 Procter St., Port Arthur, TX.  A Vietnamese vegetarian meal will be offer to those attending the celebration.  Please invite your friends and family.

On this day, Buddhists honor their parents and elders and departed relative’s with prayers and special attention.

It is generally believed that anyone who performs any good deed accumulates spiritual merit. It is considered an even more pious act when the merits that have been earned are shared with the departed relatives. Sharing these merits in this way will help them to be reborn in more favorable conditions and to alleviate their suffering.

Please join us for this year’s Le Vu Lan Ceremony and pay respects to your parents and departed relatives.  The schedule this year is as follows:

11:00 Dhamma Talk by Monks

11:30 Performance by Buu Mon Temple Lion and Dragon Dancer Troupe

11:45 Folk Dancing by Buu Mon Temple Lotus Dancers

12:00 pm Sangha Dana – Offering Food to Venerable Monks

12:30 Vegetarian Lunch Offered to All

2:00 End of Celebration
